Familiar/Unfamiliar Places

This project is a part of the Zhongshan Hao Rong Yi Street Art Project in an old district in Taipei. In this project, I took photos of commercial and public spaces in the three neighborhoods including Yuan Shan Li , Ching Guang Li, and Heng An Li. This area comprised by these three neighborhoods has an exotic atmosphere of its own. There are different groups of people living in this area including Taiwanese, Filipinos, and people from other countries, but they rarely communicate/interact with each other. For local people, here might be a place he/she is familiar with, but it could be also an unfamiliar/vague place. A Taiwanese resident of this place might have been living here for two decades but never entered the Philippine restaurant. Through photography and exhibition, this project tries to show local people different perspectives to see the streets. Through connecting local people to the places they’re familiar, I hope to trigger their curiosity to places they haven’t been to.
